Understanding Reaper Forge Licenses

Personal Use vs Commercial Use (Plain English Guide)

At Reaper Forge, we design original 3D print files and laser-cut designs for makers, creators, and small businesses.

Because these files can be used in different ways, we use two license types to keep things fair and transparent.

This post explains exactly what you can and cannot do, in simple terms.

πŸ”’ Personal Use License (Included With All Digital Files)

When you purchase a Reaper Forge digital file, it automatically includes a Personal Use License.

βœ” What this means

You can:

  • Download and use the file for your own personal projects

  • Print or fabricate items for yourself

  • Modify the file for personal use

❌ What this does NOT allow

You cannot:

  • Sell or share the digital files

  • Upload the files anywhere online

  • Sell physical items made from the file

  • Use the design for any commercial purpose

In short:
Personal Use = Make it for yourself, not for sale.

Full Personal Use License terms are included with every download.

πŸ’Ό Commercial License (Required to Sell Physical Items)

If you want to sell physical items made from a Reaper Forge design, you must purchase a Commercial License.

This license:

  • Applies to physical items only

  • Never allows resale or redistribution of digital files

  • Is valid for 12 months

  • Requires monthly sales reporting

🧾 Monthly Sales Reporting (All Commercial Tiers)

All commercial license holders must submit a monthly sales report.

Reports must include:

  • Product name(s)

  • Number of units sold that month

  • Sales platform(s) used

πŸ“… Reports are due by the 10th of each month.
Failure to report may result in license suspension or termination.

βš™οΈ One-Time Setup Fee

All commercial licenses include a $50 one-time setup fee.

This covers:

  • License issuance

  • Tracking

  • Administrative processing

The setup fee is non-refundable and applies to all tiers.

🏴 Selling More Than 2,000 Items?

If you expect to sell more than 2,000 physical items per year, you must contact us before production.

We offer custom / enterprise licensing, which may include:

  • Higher-volume pricing

  • Custom royalty structures

  • Extended license terms

  • Limited exclusivity (by agreement)

These agreements are handled case-by-case and require a written contract.

βš–οΈ Overages & Enforcement

  • Selling beyond your licensed tier without approval is a license violation

  • Tier upgrades must be completed before limits are exceeded

  • Reaper Forge reserves the right to audit reported sales with reasonable notice
